Trainers, what do you look for in yours. I like to ask this question because it helps with the approach you take towards different personalities. Are there any absolute musts a trainer has to possess? Does it matter if they are male or female? Can they get away with having no certifications or degrees? Post what you think to the comments section.

Scott, you kick ass…that’s what I think. One workout with you and any question of a degree or cert needs to go right out window!! Keep it up

I have friends that put their trust in a “credited trainer”. One buddy ended up reciving 2 torn biceps after 1st workout (golds). A buddies wife tore her hamstring about 1 month into a training program. Did either one even get a phone call from trainer as to condition? No. They did however get a call in regards to payment to continue their training sessions. If all one needs is a computer and $$ to get a certification, I’d rather have someone that has no credits or diplomas but years of experience. No to say all “trainers” are bad but, who is to say until you have wasted money and time with either no results or an injury.

Adam,
If you imply all “trainers” are bad how come you are constantly on here kissing your trainer’s ass? There must be some good ones out there??? Also, if experience is king how does someone gain experience? Would they not have to learn from a “good trainer?” I am sure Scott would tell you that he has learned a hell of a lot from some good “trainers” and some of those good ones might even work at a commercial gym. Imagine that???
